basically, i had the munchies.

Usually, my overly organized ass will make a list before I walk into any store, but lately, I've been walking in without a list, just vibes. My habit lately has been snacking more throughout the day, rather than eating complete meals. It's super weird, because while I'm working from home, I rarely get hungry enough to want a full meal; so snacking it is!

I'm not a super picky person when it comes to snacks, but there are certain things that I will only eat if I have pairings. For instance, I have a strong dislike charcuterie boards or pairing crackers and cheese. Fun fact, I do not eat cheese unless it's melted. But I decided to make a list of some of my favorite snacks, since these are some of the things that I always have in my apt:

  • Apple Cinnamon Rice Cakes - I've always been a fan on anything with cinnamon or apples, except Apple Jacks, but fried apples, apple cinnamon pancakes, or cinnamon oatmeal were a few of my faves while growing up.

  • Tostito's Hint of Lime Chips & Queso Blanco / Guacamole - Who doesn't enjoy chips and guac?! It's the first thing I'm ordering for the table in a group setting. Spicy guac is a game changer, and will always be a snack in my refrigerator. The real challenge for me would be one day making my own spicy guacamole, and I'm kinda up for it!

  • Hummus and Mediterranean Herb Pita Chips - Up until a few years ago, you could not get me to try chickpeas or hummus even if you paid me. The consistency, the color, and the smell were all NO factors for me, until I had the munchies one day at my friends house and saw he had Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and Mediterranean Herb Pita Chips. After a few dips of those pita chips, I concluded that it wasn't that bad, and its become one of my favorites. I usually alternate between buying Roasted Red Pepper Hummus or Sun Dried Tomato Hummus, 10/10 would recommend.

  • Cherry Tomatoes and Cucumbers Soaked in Italian Dressing - Pasta salad is fire, but take out the pasta. Mix some cherry tomatoes and sliced cucumbers in a bowl with some Zesty Robusto Italian Dressing and Salad Supreme seasoning..... I can eat that all day. It could even double as a side to a meal, because it's simply vegetables, or could be added to a salad.

  • Fruit at the Bottom Yogurt & Granola -

My grandma put me on to Dannon's Fruit at the Bottom yogurt as a young kid. I never understood why she wouldn't but yogurt that was already blended together, but she changed the game when she taught me to put the yogurt in the freezer for 30 minutes before you eat it. After that time passes, add some flavored granola on top, and maybe some agave, and that is a healthy midnight snack that will change your entire mood!

  • Panera Bread Broccoli Cheddar Soup - A simple bowl of soup, but minus the trip to Panera. The grocery store right across the street carries a few of Panera's At Home Soup Collection, and this shit sells out fast! So whenever I see the Broccoli Cheddar Soup on the refrigerator shelves, I grab at least three. It's simple to make, if you know how to microwave for 3 minutes and stir, but it does not stop there. You have to add a little seasoning salt, pepper, and a few dashes of hot sauce. Properly stir, and enjoy! & shoutout to Harper for putting me on to the add-ins!

  • Rainbow Sherbet and Sprite - A hood classic birthday party drink or a Vacation Bible School snack in your Granny's church basement, this is an undefeated combo that anybody will love. Sherbet is an inexpensive alternative to ice cream; and with all the available flavors, you just need two scoops and pour some Sprite on top - it's simple.

  • Pepperoni & Meatball Hot Pockets - Does it count as a snack if I eat two in one sitting? I don't care, I'm keeping it on my list.

Trying to expand my palette of snacks, I asked a few friends and family what their favorite snacks were. What's crazy is that a lot of people said mangoes or chips and guac were their favorites. Everyone else pretty much said chips, pretzels, cookies, fruit, or popcorn. Tell me, what are some of your favorite snacks or snacks that I should try? Maybe I'll keep it in mind next time I make a grocery list or have the munchies again...
